From 27 April to 2 May 2025, Boulouki traveled to the mountainous region of Achaea to organize Dristela, a hands-on workshop dedicated to the restoration of the traditional fulling-tub of Poretsos Monastery, nestled on the slopes of Mount Erymanthos.
Over the course of six days, participants were trained in a wide spectrum of traditional building techniques. Together with experienced craftspeople, they restored the dry-stone paving along the pathway leading to the fulling-tub, prepared and applied lime-based mortars for repointing the stone masonry of the tower and waterproofing the channel, and practiced traditional carpentry and barrel-making for the installation of a new wooden headrace and water bucket. The practical training was complemented by a rich program of lectures, guided tours, screenings, and open discussions. This immersive approach not only offered a deep understanding of pre-industrial technologies but also raised awareness about the sustainable management of water as a vital natural resource and the importance of conserving cultural heritage.
The workshop was held in parallel with the restoration project of the fulling-tub, which was implemented by the Cultural Association of Agrabela, in cooperation with «Another Way» and was funded by the Helidoni Foundation through the 7th cycle of the Bodossaki Foundation programme “Points of Support”.
