Exhibition Opening Day 27/9

On Saturday, September 27, the exhibition “Burning the bones of the earth | Lime Kiln Stories on Both Sides of the Greece–Albania Border” was inaugurated.

In a beautiful celebration beside the Plaka Bridge, the Regional Union of Municipalities of Epirus (PED Epirus) and Boulouki inaugurated a comprehensive exhibition on lime, its traditional preparation process, its timeless use, and the need for its revival today. This knowledge can inspire new approaches to sustainable construction and the protection of architectural heritage. We warmly thank all visitors and collaborators who attended, as well as the mayors of Northern and Central Tzoumerka, who shared their experiences and reflections on the local lime kilns.

The exhibition presents the results of three years of Boulouki’s research on traditional lime kiln technology and features architectural plans, audiovisual material, and testimonies from people and craftspeople from communities in Epirus and Southern Albania. It is hosted at the Historic Customs House next to the Plaka Bridge until October 19, 2025, every Saturday and Sunday, 10:00-16:00.
