A wonderful day at the #CycladicKidsFestival of the Museum of Cycladic Art, with a special children’s workshop dedicated to the architecture and building traditions of the Cyclades using traditional materials! The little masons discovered, up close, the techniques and materials that have shaped the Cycladic landscape. They explored architectural tools, learned about scale through model-making, mixed and pressed clay mortar, carved stone, built structures, and recreated Cycladic rooftops using natural materials such as reeds and seaweed. And, as tradition goes, we whitewashed our Cycladic houses!
Many thanks to the Museum of Cycladic Art for the invitation and warm hospitality, and to all our little craftspeople for the enthusiasm, imagination, and joy they brought to the workshop! Photos: Dimitra Tsiaouskoglou (BLK), Giorgos Tzavaras (BLK), Paris Tavitian
