Following the invitation by the Caravane Earth The Majlis group, the Smithsonian, and INTBAU, members of the Boulouki team participated in October 2022 in a three-day event of discussions and presentations on the value of preserving historical practices in architecture and art. As part of this event, tours were also organised regarding conservation and restoration projects of monuments and works of art in Venice.
Amongst some noteworthy experiences were also the acquaintance with the traditional Mesopotamian boatbuilding and Iraq’s first official participation in the Biennale. Additionally, the Associazione Canova presented the revitalisation results of a medieval village through stone building workshops that they organised. Expanding the geographical borders even further, the Terrachidia team gave a presentation on the significance of earth-building practices from Morocco to New Mexico.
In turn, the Boulouki team presented their own approach to research and work in preserving the thread of master craftsmanship reflected in the materials, works, and constructions of past eras.
